303: Assess Candidate Skills, Knowledge & Understanding (optional)

Target groups for this qualification include:

For those who will be expected to assess competence in the work environment (formerly A1/A2)

The new standard reflects current practice in learning and development and describe what a person needs to do, know and understand in order to carry out this role in a consistent and competent way. All those assessing and assuring the quality of assessment will use the standards to implement their practice and identify professional development needs. The standard will also be used to underpin all new qualifications for learning and development roles.

This new award will be the natural replacements for the old A1/A2 qualification.
This structure offers people undertaking the units a number of options.
Those who need to know about the assessment process without the need to carry out assessments – for example managers – are able to learn about essential principles and practices.
For those requiring this they would not achieve the whole qualification but could complete Unit 301
For those who are in a position to carry out live assessments, they can undertake both units at the same time and, in the spirit of holistic assessment, use evidence from one to meet some of the requirements of the other.
