Effective Team Leadership:

Manager and supervisor are labels that are often used interchangeably in job descriptions. We may carry either title, but neither automatically makes us leaders. The title leader must be earned by inspiring and motivating people to give their best. A successful leader commits themselves to the team and fosters that same commitment in the team members.

Delegates attending will achieve the following three units of the Railway Managers Standards level 3:

2: Communicate relevant information in your area of control

7: Demonstrate leadership and decision making in your area of resonsibility

8: Provide leadership for your team

The successful leader:

- Has the skills to communicate effectively

- Knows their job and their field thoroughly

- Stays on top of current developments, trends and theories

- Knows their people, including their strengths, weaknesses, hopes and goals

- Shares a vision of service excellence and achievement with others

- Demonstrates by their words and their actions a strength of character
